How to treat Afra Amba jewelry

All Afra Amba pieces are handmade and handcrafted. The jewelry is made of either sterling silver (925), sterling silver with a layer of 24 carat gold (gold plated) or 14 carat solid gold.

Sterling silver items are subject to oxidizing after a certain time. When you’d like to make your silver items shiny again, just rub the pieces with a some silver polish (or toothpaste works sometimes too).

We’d love to share a bit more about our gold-plated jewelry and the materials we use.
Each piece is made with high-quality gold plating, where a thin layer of real gold is carefully applied over the base material. This process gives the look and feel of solid gold, while remaining more affordable.

Our gold-plated jewelry has a beautiful shine and finish, but it’s important to know that the gold layer may naturally wear over time.
This makes it less long-lasting than solid 14K gold.
With proper care, however, your pieces can stay beautiful for a long time.

Tip: To extend the life of your jewelry, try to avoid contact with chemicals such as sunscreen, perfume, and shampoo.
